QlikView - Using the REST Connector

In this video you will learn about our new REST Connector and how to use it with both Qlik Sense and QlikView. The Qlik REST Connector provides a means for the Qlik Platform to efficiently load data into a QlikView or Qlik Sense application from a REST service that returns data in XML, CSV, or JSON format. The metadata returned is then used to select specific tables and fields to be loaded into the Qlik data model.

Get the connectors here from: Qlik Market

NOTE: The sample PDF has been made into documentation in the ON-LINE help - available here: REST ‒ Qlik Connectors

MarkitOnDemand link is: http://dev.markitondemand.com/Api/v2/Quote

Hi Michael - Thanks!   I am working on getting that information as a live link in the video, originally the sample PDF was to be included in the connector pack, but they decided to remove it and add it to the online documentation you can check here: http://help.qlik.com/Connectors/

http://help.qlik.com/Connectors/en-us/connectors/#../Subsystems/REST_connector_QV_help/Content/1.0/C...

let us know how you do

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the video. Just a reminder that the Markit on Demand link for Quote has been updated according to Markit On Demand - Market Data APIs (v2)

It is currently http://dev.markitondemand.com/Api/v2/Quote

Hope this could benefit new comers.

Best regards,

Mengyi

Hi, is there a guide to the twitter connection, with specific examples?  I've been through the online guides, but still getting an error when I select JSON as the response type.

I'm trying a basic example to retrieve trending worldwide results.  Here is my connection string, any ideas/guides on this?

CUSTOM CONNECT TO "Provider=QvRestConnector.exe;url=https://api.twitter.com/1.1/trends/place.json?id=1;timeout=30;method=GET;autoDetectResponseType=true... oauth_consumer_key%%2%%3DC0sePOBbQ8bYdC8r4Smg%%3,oauth_signature_method%%2%%3HMAC-SHA1%%3,oauth_timestamp%%2%%31451561646%%3,oauth_nonce%%2%%3-662166181%%3,oauth_version%%2%%31.0%%3,oauth_token%%2%%3382850984-aKgpvg8Lrhhixbh9aPl17EtKYATb8BaNX7d1sPZI%%3,oauth_signature%%2%%3yO9gMiqmqYvCOT6oCdfF67%%%%2BNU6U%%%%3D%%3%1Host%2api.twitter.com%1X-Target-URI%2https://api.twitter.com;PaginationType=None;XUserId=;XPassword=;";

Hi Michael - as of now - the only examples that I am aware of are in the online document. I would suggest posting your question in the main forum here: Qlik Sense - Data Connectivity where it will get more visibility.

Let us know how you do.

Regards,

Mike

Thanks Mike, I'll do that.  It's a shame Qlik haven't provided a specific example with the release of this connector to help guys like me connect and extract data quickly...

Regards

Michael.

Hi Michael,

In terms of deploying REST connectors to QDS on a server, Any advice how to restrict the access to only the API site involved. I understood the connector doesn't provide means of proxy specifying.

Regards

James.
