Thanks Colin. its nice post

One thing in my mind is :

some time we modify the fieldname and we need to change in design.

but if you change in script(rename column) and without saving if you reload then it will automatically replace field name in design.

do you thing save before reload is best practice?

Hi Sunil,

Save Before Reload can save a lot of hassle when a reload crashes or hangs your machine whilst trying to build synthetic keys. Sometimes the only way out of this is to kill the qv.exe process and lose any unsaved changes. If this happens you will be glad you enabled "Save Before Reload".

Replacing field names when you change the field name in the script sometimes updates the objects to the new name sometimes it doesn't. It seems to be to be related to the expression complexity rather than whether save before reload is enabled.

I would add: disable the splash screen via the Easter egg variables.

  1. Click Help, About QlikView.
  2. Right-click the QlikView logo in the lower left of the panel.
  3. Select the SuppressSplash variable.
  4. Enter a value of 1 and click Set.
  5. Click Close, then OK.
