Hi Steve,

How can I refresh my qvw file without refreshing the post code which in fact I don’t need to refresh ?

Cheers

Clement

You would need to persist the GIS information to QVD files.

I obviously don't know the structure of your app, but first time through load all post codes and get GIS data for these from MapQuest. Add to each row the date you make the call. Store this to QVD.

Next time load all rows from the QVD which are within your refresh period. Then load other postcodes with a where not exists. You will only have to hit MapQuest for the new ones. Store this over the top of your old QVD.

Repeat.

It will probably be easiest to create a new QVW just for building the postcode QVD, and put into there just columns for postcode, GIS info and date. This way you can do WHERE NOT EXISTS on everything, so you only get each postcode once, rather than each time it occurs.

Hope that all makes sense?

Putting in a well thought out QVD layer is never a bad idea.  If you can make things incremental then even better.

Thanks for your feedback.
