QlikView license

Hi everyone who's reading this!

I have simple question but cannot find anything online about this.

We have two QlikView environments, one test environment and one production environment.

In the test environment we are able to change Max number of simultaneous QlikView engines for distribution.

In the live environment we are unable to change the Max number of simultaneous QlikView engines for distrubiton.

On the test and production environment we have different licenses, the test environment has NUMBER_OF_CLUSER_NODES.;2;; and the production environment has NUMBER_OF_CLUSER_NODES;1;;.

The test environment.

The production environment.

If this is an license issue is there a workaround to upscale the Max Simultaneous Engines?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Bill_Britt thanks for your reply,

We have edited the DistributionService.xml file, this unfortunately did not resolve our issue. please look at the attached screenshots.

We have tried mutiple things with this file,

Situation 1

We have edited the MaxSimultaneousQvb's on line 13 and 45, this did not resolve our issue.

Situation 2

We have edited the MaxSimultaneousQvb's on line 13 but not on line 45, this did not resolve our issue.

Situation 3

We have edited the MaxSimultaneousQvb's on line 45 but not on line 13, this did not resolve our issue.

All the Qlik services have been restarted in each situation.

Thanks for your reply @marcus_sommer,

On both our QlikView test environment and production environments we have used a clean install of QlikView     V12.70.20000.0. During the installation of QlikView we haven't copied/pasted any files from the test environment to the production environment. The installation has been done on a clean install of Windows server. V12.70.20000.0 is the only version of QlikView that has ever run on this server.

We hope to have informed you sufficiently and thanks again for the collaboration, it means a lot!

That's worked in one environment and both ones were on the same release and installed as a clean new installation without using older/other configurations should exclude that there is anywhere a bug within the quite new QlikView release.

Therefore I assume that anything with the configurations is wrong. Beside the from Bill mentioned settings are further similar settings within other config-files, for example:

C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\DistributionService\Configuration.xml

whereby IMO it's odd that adjustable settings within the qmc aren't changeable because the qmc does also just changing the settings within the xml and reading the values from there. If such manual change within the xml worked but not from the qmc it hints for missing writing rights. Saying this take a look on the users which runs all the services - AFAIK it should be only one user which has administrator rights and is a member of the QlikView administrators.

If this didn't work I suggest to check if the right server-services are linked together within the qmc - maybe there is any mismatch.

HI,

OK, the issue is that someone has enabled the Distribution Groups.  The files for this are stored in C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\ManagementService\DistributionGroups.

Being you do not have cluster QDSs I would stop the QMC service, and rename DistributionGroupDefinition.xml to DistributionGroupDefinition.Template.xml. Then you can make the change in the QMC.

If you want to keep the DistributionGroupDefinition.xml just make your settings in this file.
