In my QlikView Dashboard, we need to have 3 or more dimensions for a chart.
so i want to know what all charts can accept 3 dimensions or more.
can anyone give me info about the chart with 3 dimensions?
Pie charts, line charts and scatter charts cannot display more
than two dimensions. In bar charts, up to three dimensions can be shown.
Thanks for the reply,
other than bar chart, any other chart can be used for 3 dimensions?
Do you mean 3D-chart or just 3 dimensions of data ?
In general, the useful number of dimensions (of data cube) strongly depends on type of chart.
other than this block chart , funnel chart can also be used .. n for more than 3 dimension only table chart is available..
I have filters at the top of my dashboard. The chart should show the selected 3 dimensions in the chart.
Chart which has 3 dimensions in the Dimensions tab in QlikView.
In this case only 'trial and error' method.
Your question is too general. Even with 3D Bar chart the possibility to display 3 dimensions separately depends on the number of expressions and presentation settings.
I need to use 3 dimensions in a chart for ex,,
and the metric will be salary.
so now in a chart, i need to show the above 3 dimensions and a metric value for those dimensions.
i want to know which all charts can handle 3 dimensions which is useful for the end users.
You can use grid chart also for using three dimensions with metrics as salary. You can change the dimensionsposition byb promoting/demoting the fields.
This is from Qlikview help file
A chart can display one or more dimensions. The upper limit depends on the actual chart type, the complexity
of the data and the available memory. Pie, line and scatter charts can display a maximum of two
dimensions, bar, block and grid charts three. Radar charts can only display a single dimension, and gauge
charts use no dimensions at all. A funnel chart typically has one to three dimensions. Further dimensions are
A chart dimension gets its values from a field which is specified on the Chart Properties: Dimensions page.
Instead of being a single field a dimension can also consist of a group of fields (see Edit Groups below).
A dimension can be a single field, a group or an expression (calculated dimension). It can also be a synthetically
created dimension, see Synthetic Dimension Functions.
Chart dimensions may also be calculated from an expression.
This property page is used for defining dimensions.
Hope this helps you.
