May be use alternate states for these two container objects with some sort of pre-selected selections? Do you think that will work? Would you be able to provide a sample?

It's not quite clear what do you want to do. If you speaks about normal field-selections - they will be independent from the container, maybe the use of one or two selection-triggers or the use of dimension-groups might be useful.

If you want to create any depencies between the container and their active objects you would need macros which usage isn't recommended: Macros are Bad. In such cases is it better not to use container else buttons and/or listboxes to control the visibilities of those objects and other things like selections. But quite often you get the best usability if you could avoid any of such on top logic which often only confused the user without real added value.

See the attached screenshot:

This option will show up once you have created alternate state in your application.

thnx sunny... i hve created alt states state A and state B

now i selected stateA  for agebands

state B  for  trend...

where shud i give expression stating that to disply for perticulars?

sunny_talwar

If your chart itself is in that particular alternate state, then you won't have to worry about putting anything in the expression. If the chart is still in Inherited state, then you can specify the state like this -> {StateA <>}

Kushal_Chawda

add container1 & respective filters in State1

add Container2 & respective filters in State2
