Yellow Selectors and grey checked selectors

Hi all

I have adocument where sometime my selectors change colour to yellow and/or checked grey boxes as shown below. The white boxes are those that are valid selection and the grey are those that are not.

Does anyone know what this means as I don't rmember setting anything in the document.

Any guidance appreciated.

Is it something to do with alternate states, where the yellow selectors are in the data load but not related to your current selections?

Confused.com, could someone confirm maybe the action of show alternale state?

Yellow is a 'Show alternatives' function for List boxes

List Box Properties - General - Show alternatives

'Toggles whether a selection directly in the active field list box is to exclude the other values of the field or not. If Show Alternatives is checked, all values except the selected value will be displayed as Optional but may become excluded by association with selections in other fields. Otherwise, all other values are shown as excluded by default. This option is not available for calculated fields.'
