when you say different versions, what version is the working qvw from and what version are you trying to open it in?

Have you tried opening with no data?

That likely indicates a corrupted QVW file would be my best hunch.  You can use NotePad++ to try to open the file to see if it will open that way, if it does open there, if you scroll down toward the bottom of the file, you should see readable text, which is going to be meta data of the file.  If that is all there, then I would have to think it may be Section Access or something else causing things not to load for you.  If you can provide some further details, may be able to provide a better answer here.

Regards,
Brett

I am using version 12.30.20100.0 SR1.
When opening the file by notepad ++ I was able to visualize the metadata.
When you try to open the file without data, the same error message is displayed

It sounds like something is corrupted in the QVW file, but odd due to you being able to see things via NotePad++, and if it were Section Access, dumping all the data should have excluded that from being an issue at that point, so I am a bit stumped at the moment as to what root cause is here.

Can you export the script from the nonworking app and put it in a new one and run that and ensure you can get into things after the reload/save and reopen?  If that works, what you could try is using the prj folder to dump things from the old file and try recreating things in a new, but if whatever is corrupted gets dumped to the prj, that will not likely work.  The only other option would be to copy your layout into that new version with just the script etc. and any other pieces you need.

The last option would be to open up a Support Case and attach the app for us to have a look at things to see if we can spot something, as I am doubting you want to post it here.  Sorry I do not have any better ideas for you.  The fact you could open the file via NotePad++ should also rule out NTFS permissions issue too.

Apologies,
Brett

Have you tried opening it on a different machine? Not that it should make a difference, just a thought.
And maybe from a slightly older version?
Good luck.

Hi,
Was the qvw created by you? Is the QlikView Desktop licensed or is just in Personal Edition mode? Does it work if you rollback your Desktop version ?
If your QlikView Desktop is not licensed properly and the qvw is from a 3rd person this kind of issues occurs.

Kind regards!
