Document CAL applied and assigned, but the QVW is not visible on Access Point?

Hi All,

I have some Document CALs available and have assigned one of it to one of the user. I can see that under System>>Licenses>>QVServer>>CALs tab.

It is also applied in the User Documents>>particular document in Document CAL.

But my issue is that when I log in using the particular User ID (authentication is NTFS) into Access Point, the document is NOT visible.

Is there anything else I am missing?

Regards!!!

Hi

Does the user have windows read permissions on the folder (AD or NTFS)?

Hi Jonathan,

Do you mean to say that in the Document Properties (right click on document)>>Security tab, that USER ID has to be added?

Does the document have section access? If it does and the user doesn't have rights there to open the document it will not show.

No Bill,

Section Access has not been implemented.

And yes, When I go to properties of the QVW file and add the User (User ID) in the Security tab, I am able to see the QVW in the Access Point.

Is it the correct way of achieving the goal?

Hi,

If you are not using publisher to distribute the QVW'S, yes that is one way to do it. You can also run the QlikView Server in DMS mode and assign users under the document tab.

I am using the Publisher to distribute the QVWs.

But I will try to change the authentication to DMS and give it a try.

If you using publisher you should be able to setup a distribution task and set the users their.

Document CALs are tricky to implement.  You also need to Distribute to the DocCAL User on the SOURCE side and then assign the DocCAL to the User on the AccessPoint side.

Hope this helps!

Like Andy says, if you publish a document using QlikView Publisher, you should fill at least these tabs in the Source document task properties:

  • Reload: mark the enable checkbox
  • Distribute: click Manually, add a Distribution item and select User Type = All Authenticated Users. Your Document CAL assignment will block/permit user access.
  • Trigger: define reload triggers.

Even if your running your QVS in security mode = NTFS, the publisher will set the NTFS rights for you based on your selections in the Distribute tab. Manually changing the NTFS rights in file properties is only necessary if you don't have a publisher.

Good luck,

Peter
