PDF warning without sending mail

Hi I have a problem when I try to distribute pdf using Publisher. The problem occur only sometimes and I cant find any good information in the logfile.

The only thing is this when it gives me a warning:

If it's happens rather randomly I would think that then the network failed or the mail-server didn't responded in time or the mails are too large. Maybe you could find more within the windows event-logs.

We has some other issue with connectivity to the NAS fileshare, but these pdf-files is distributed to mailaddresses.

Do you think its QDS or DSC that have problem? The mail is 1 sheet with 2 small tables and no pictures (small).

Hi,

There is a couple of things to try. One is to increase the SMTP timeout in the Mail Server settings in the QMC. The default is 100 seconds, I would try 1000 seconds.

The other is to increase the PDF Printer timeout.

To increase the PDF Printer timeout, do the following
• Locate the file settings.ini found in

Windows 2008 - C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\QlikTech\QlikViewBatch
Windows 2003 - C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Application Data\QlikTech\QlikViewBatch
• Add the setting PDFPrintTimeoutInSeconds in the [Settings 7] section

[Settings 7]
PDFPrintTimeoutInSeconds= 120
• Save settings.ini and restart QlikView Distribution Service

I think it's rather not the QDS or DSC else more a temporary lack from network/mailserver ressources.

Hi Staffan,

The distribution service has to make a temp file to be able to create the PDFs. So, this could be the issue.

Could it be when the tempfile is saved here, C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\DistributionService\1\temp\afc8f3bc-4aee-4571-927c-d3268665a0ec\document.qvw.

From our NAS fileshare that has connectivity problem?

One thing that I notice is that when a task fails we have a Alert-E-mail, this mail is very often Failed in the Windows Application event log,

Failed to send mail to xxxx@hjduhf.com

Yes, that could be the document. Please note that NAS are not supported by Qlik.

Yes Bill, We have found that out, now we are waiting for more disc in the QV server.
