Triggering a QlikView load to run

We have an application that displays financial information.  We want to be able to reload the application after each time the General Ledger post job runs.  Is there an API into the Job Scheduler, or some way to get into the data base to update the run time to "now"?

Or, has someone been able to trigger a job based on an event in some other way?

Thanks,

Ron.

Hi Ron,

Maybe EDX could be useful, for example we have a php script that triggers and EDX event that reloads a job. You can get more info in this articles:

"Not really" and "Yes". As Karla already mentioned, you can trigger a Publisher task externally from anywhere on your network by way of an EDX signal. Configure a task.to be "triggered by an external event", and use QMSEDX.exe to send the signal from a batch job or another application that allows for external programs to run at specific points in time.

For example, if you can configure the General Ledger post job to run QMSEDX.exe as a last step, that's it. Nothing more...

Karla,

Thank you for turning us onto EDX.  We are experimenting with it right now.  Peter, that is exactly what we going to do -- run QMSEDX.EXE as the last step in the job!

Stay tuned while we work with this...

Karla/Peter:

I work for Ron M'Sadoques, and based on the links in the replies to the original post, I was able to create an externally-triggered Qlik task, successfully execute it using the command-line method, and reload the target .qvw.

Thanks for pointing us in the right direction with EDX!
