Calculate Year to date, month to date sales

Dear all,

I have an expression in a cart to display year to date sales, previous year , as -

sum({<xYear={$(=max(xYear)-1)}>} Store_TotalSales)/1000

I would like to display year to date, month to date sales, from previous year.

I have fields xMonth and xDay also, but don't know how to use them in this expression since im new to QlikView.

Please help.
