Difference between select or load instruction

I'm new on qlik.

Someone could explain me what difference are between the script instructions load and select?

Can you also recommend some documents on which to learn the basics of the script?

A SELECT always uses a connector e.g. towards a database using ODBC. The syntax is defined by the DB.

A Load is a QlikView internal statement to load a file or to load data from an internal table.

Some days ago I used your pareto analysis with successfully!...but I have to improve my script knowledge that at the moment is limited to storing predefined tables.
