How to link StartDate and EndDate to periods?

I want to link date values to periods. I tried already a master calendar but with no result.

For contract I file a Reward% with a StartDate and In case of an ended contract also an EndDate in Excel.

How can I Link these differend values? So I can see which Reward%  apply to a specific selected period. For excample August 2013.

I hopa someone can help me out.
