Search contents of Multibox on iPad?

Hi all,

We've been struggeling with this for a while now and we can't seem to find a solution to this...

We have a multibox with 10 items, if you click on 1 of these items you'll get a list of 500+ items.

We know that when you press the spacebar on the keyboard that you can search all of these 500+ items, very helpfull!

But... We are building the QlikView for the iPad! So there is no spacebar...

Is there any way to bring up the same searchbox on the iPad?

Like when you open one of the items, the searchbar will automaticly pop-up.

Right now you have to scroll down all the items and this takes way to long.

All suggestions are welcome!

Thanks in advance,

Kenneth

Hi Kenneth, The multibox it self have search option. Select dropdown and type on it. Automatically the search box was enabled on top of the multibox. If you want change the search mode Presentation --> Select Field --> Advanced

Thanks for the awnser.

The problem with iPad is that the keyboard wont show unless you select a field where you can type.. And that field won't show if you dont press the spacebar or type.

If there is any function or so inside QlikView to toggle the iPad keyboard the problem would be solved!

Hi Kenneth,

We are struggeling with the same problem. I even connected a keyboard cover to my iPad. And still no success. The only solution I see is to have this field NOT in the multibox but as a separate field. Then it is possible to key text for selection.

Hi, Kenneth.

As a general rule, multiboxes are avoided when designing for an iPad. They are not easy to navigate using your finger and they are usually replaced with search objects because of the problem you are encountering. Some android tablets will allow you to swipe up and down the list without using the slider.

Have a look on the forum for Best practices for iPads and you will find more suggestions on how to design your app for iPad use.

Neil

You can create a workaround by placing a searchbox above your Multibox which is on conditional show. So only when you select one of the 10 items, the search box will appear and will let the iPad user search for the 500+ items.
