Unable to open a file in a Shared Folder through the Reload Task

Hello,

I am attempting to load a few Excel files residing in a Shared network folder. I can access the folder from the server by using the UNC Path (file://\\netapp1\\\netapp1\....)

I can even reload the Qlikview document manually using the same path and can retrive data successfully.

However, when I setup a reload task on this document, it fails and gives the following message in the log file:

8/15/2011 10:28:28 AM:       Error: Cannot open file '\\netapp1\....\ABC.xls' The operation completed successfully.

8/15/2011 10:28:28 AM:       General Script Error
8/15/2011 10:28:28 AM:       Execution Failed
8/15/2011 10:28:28 AM:      Execution finished.

It doesn't make sense to me why the task fails when my Qlikview Admin user has access to the folder. I even tried mapping the folder to a Z:\ but it still does not work.

Thanks,

Amit

Hi Amit,

Some time ago I had a problem with Loads from Sharepoint folders and from Internet. What solved my problem was to set the startup type as Automatic for the 'WebClient' service on the server (mine was Win 2008 Server R2).

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Fernando

Hi Amit,

If you cannot find the WebClient service in WinServer, you must enable the 'User Experience' feature in the server manager. It is not installed by default.

Hope this solves your problem.

Amit,

I have exactly this issue as well.  Everything works perfectly when i run the file on Desktop version installed on the server, and then fails with the same messages as yours when reloading from a task in QEMC.

Did you ever find a solution?

Brian

Hi Brian,

Probably obvious, but are the shared folders or mapped drives available to the user running the QlikView services? If you have a 😧 drive mapped to a shared folder when you open a session locally in the server, the same path must be available for the user running the services. Try logging into the server locally as this user and do the reload with Desktop, just to check that permissions are fine and the drives or paths are correct.

Hope that helps.

Hi Miguel,

I am using UNC paths, and can reload the file fine using Desktop when logged on to the server using the Qlikview service account.

The Qlikview account can also see the folders directly from the server - checked this as well.

My issue is being discussed in more detail here - http://community.qlik.com/message/173663
