Authorization by Dashboard

Dear Qlik Gurús,

Since last month, we had developed one Dashboard in QlikView. We handled authorizations by Company Code. Now we have created a new Dashboard quite similar but for different companies (as they have some different requirements). The problem is that users can Access to both Dashboards (they see only information of their assigned company codes) and I would like to assign Access for only one Dashboard for each user.

Any idea about how can I handle it?

We don't have Publisher.

Thank you in advance!!

Regards,

Jordi

This is what document CALs for.  You assign CAL for document for user.

Hi Michael,

Where can I assign de document for user? If I go to QMC > Users (there I look for a user), then I see four tabs (CAL's, Server Objects, Groups and Documents), but in any of them I can assing Documents for users...

Am I in the wrong place?

Thanks,

Regards,

Jordi

If you don't have a Publisher licence you have to place the dashboards into folders on which you assign the correct NTFS permissions. If a user has NTFS read access it can see the document in the AccessPoint.

If you want to Publish to certain users (groups) then you have to use Publisher (licence). With Publisher QlikView assigns the NTFS permissions to the published documents.

Wrong place.

Go to Documents - User Documents.  Select a document on the left, and go to Document CALs on the right top.

Make sure that you have document CALs - it is in the summary right here.

Enter number of CALs for the selected document, do not allow dynamic assignment.  Last step - click on the "Manage Users" icon on the left, and assign users who can see this document.

I've made a deeper investigation and I've found the solution. I share it as it could be helpfull for others:

As I don't have Publisher, I can't assign CAL's for document at NTFS Security. Users could see all aplications located in the folders, so finally I have had to change NTFS Security to DMS, then at Documents tab I've been able to assign groups of users who are able to see each Application in "Authorizations" tab (that is not available in NTFS mode). In this way, I can choose if one user can user can Access to one, two or both (or none of them, of course) Applications.

I appreciate the comments you made. They have been still helpful.

Regards,

Jordi

After changing to DMS QVS has the control over the files instead of NTFS.

Note that DMS is only available using a QlikView Enterprise license, SBE only supports NTFS.

Changing to DMS is only a (not the) solution, if you have a EE license.

A downside using DMS is that users have to login to the AccessPoint, also these usernames and passwords are not in Sync with a Windows Domain.

When using NTFS permissions you can create (local or domain) windows groups which can be used for permissions per file or per QVS folder mount.
