Connect password encryption

Hi,

Do you know the encryption method used by Qlikview to encrypt the password into a xpassword?

Before deploying our application, the security team wants to know if those passwords are hard to break or not.

Regards,

Vincent

Hi Vincent,

Are you using ODBC? If so, then set the username and password in the configuration of the ODBC source, so the CONNECT string does not show either the XUser or the XPassword (and works), hence relying on the OS security.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your answer Miguel.

But unfortunately we are using OLEDB with Sybase or DB2.

Vincent,

If we knew the encryption method, we won't be allowed to give it out. This work make it one step easier for someone to hack a system.
