Not all user selections stored in audit log file

Hi All

During creation usage report I've faced with issue that not all action/selections are logging into Audit log file by QV server.

It's perfectly logging:

1. Selection in listbox which was clicked by user

2. All bookmark action

BUT: I can not find logs for:

1. Any chart selection: click on bar, click on legend,

2. Button actions "Select in field"

has someboby faced with such type on logginf issues?

I have checked (QV 10) it and those actions are included but they haven't an own message-type they are simple selections. In QV 11 it might be necessary to enable the extensive logging to get this.

Thanks a lot for response

can you share where it should be enable?

I know only QMC->System-> QV Server-> Logging tab... and I can only enable/disable option for Audit logging

Yes, that's the place which I meant. I QV 10 SR2 you could only switch on or off and in QV 11 SR12 there is a spilt between normal and extensive audit logging possible. I don't know with which release it has changed and where are excactly the differences between the different mode. My check was with QV 10 and selections within charts or triggered per actions was logged and I think it is still (up to the latest release) possible.

Hi,

Marcus is correct. The items in black is extensive audit logging and in red is normal. Notice the item in green is the same as the first item in red.

Hi Bill,

One issue we have noticed, even if extensive logging is on: if calculated dimensions are used, there are no records in Audit log reflected selections on charts

It is quite frustrating thing, which made this log useless in  lots of situations, unfortunately.

Is there any solution to get selections within calculated dimension logged?

I've faced the same issue as Petro says.

QVS 11.20 SR12 does NOT log several types of selections into Audit log files:

- selections that were made in Listboxes with TreeView enabled;

- selections in fields that were made by actions initiated by triggers.

However, it logs Boomark Selections that were made by actions/triggers.

This issue arised somewhere between SR11 and SR12 - I compared log records of single QVW in my test environment: first under SR10, than after upgrade to SR12 without any settings changed.

Here is a reply from support service I received regarding this issue:

"Thanks you very much for reporting us the bug, I will try to report the bug to the R&D, and hopefully if they approve the bug it will get fixed in next release of the Software"


If somebody knows any workaround, please let us know.

it's a shame I lost a creative feature I , I used the extensive audit to capture user petitions to process information requests. based on selections in fields that were made by actions initiated by triggers.

Iy was working beatifully and now I lost some business opportunities because of this

Maybe the logging from webserver could add valuable informations. Recently I noticed that a recordings.log has heavily increased - ca. 13 GB in 100 days with medium as option and without the extensive mode (QV 11 SR12). I haven't looked carefully what exactly was looged but it seems that also (some kind of) selections was included.

Perhaps there could be some loggings combined in a useful way.
