QlikView Edition Change

Good day,

I started using QlikView at the end of 2015. I have to qualify 'using' first though I - a knowledgable superuser I am not! I was trained to extract reports from QlikView models that were built years before by colleagues who had since left and never documented anything. I was trained on what I needed to know in order to perform this task - nothing else.

The process of extracting these reports involve:

- logging on to a server from my laptop,

- accessing a file saved on the desktop containing shortcuts to the various modules from which the reporting is obtained,

- opening the module,

- selecting the clear button to remove any selected values, and then

- running the module to update to the most recent date for which data is available.

Once the update completes, I:

- select the reporting criteria, i.e. period, relevant business unit, team, etc and then

- and then extract the report in  MS Excel, which

- is then forwarded to the person requiring the report.

Reporting frequency is monthly (in all cases) but I also do ad hoc reporting when requested. I also, on a monthly basis, edit the time range of every module by adjusting the end date to the first of the next month.

The above is the full scope of my QlikView experience and the training. I followed this process since 2015 at least once on a monthly basis for more than 10 business units without fail. In other words, I performed a rather route task year in and year out that never deviated or failed to complete.

February 2019 reporting is due today. I performed the steps set out above, up to the point where I needed to access the first module. Selecting the first module resulted in the following error message:

'The QlikView document was created by another QlikView Personal Edition user. Since you are using a QlikView Personal Edition, you may only open files that you created yourself. You may......blah, blah, blah'  All of this, of course, is news to me, considering the limited training and usage I was exposed to up to now.

My question is thus, can anyone shed some light on how I got here? And how do I get back to the way things were. And what are the alternatives? The implication of the notification partially quoted above is, in the absence of any such issue in the preceding years, that something has changed somewhere. I obviously did not configure the environment that resulted in this situation as I don't have the knowledge, nor the inclination or even the time to do something like this.  I am totally out of my depth and would appreciate any help very much.

Thanking you in advance.

Kind regards,

Stephan
