Leased a license from server - security settings access denied, server connect ok

Hi,

I try open document by desktop using 'open in server'. I try with:

qvp://qlikview.com (accesspoint url)

qvp://servername.com

And got the error massage:

Screenshot 2026-05-04 135912.png

I can 'open URL' with AccessPoint and open any document.

I have my own Assigned Cal, the desktop and server are in same version, the port 4747 is open.

Can it be related with NTFS authentication? Do you know what security settings should be checked?

Hi @PaulinaWanago

What version of QlikView Server and QlikView Desktop are you running?

Please, verify that server and desktop run on the same version, otherwise it won't probably work.

As I mention in earlier post the version are same:

The server is on QlikView 12.80 20200

Desktop is 12.80 20200

if you are able to do so, I would suggest trying to open the QlikView desktop client directly on the server machine (under your user, via Remote Desktop or similar) and check if you can connect from there. That should help you figure out where the issue might be, or at least eliminate some of the options. It should also ensure you get the license lease, because you aren't getting it at the moment (if you were, it wouldn't say "Personal Edition").

Please try navigating to the qv.exe folder (default is C:\Program Files\QlikView\). Highlight the qv.exe, press and hold shift, and right click. Enter the credentials for the user for whom you have a CAL assigned, and then try leasing a license.

It looks like you do have a connection between the your desktop and the server, but could  it be that you're not forwarding the correct user? Try being explicitly about it. There should be a log in as similar interface when you try to connect to open up an app on the server. The connection string will then look something like this

qvp://DOMAIN\Username@servername.com

The desktop on server machine has a leased license from server when I use my personal cal's license (license leased from server) . When I try open on my personal machine same user not works (Personal Edition) - access denied. So it looks like the access not denied of the user but depend of the machine and environment. My personal machine is on same network and I can open the AccessPoint URL and any shared dashboard.
