you might want to read around the subject of Database Normalisation and data redundancy as a starting point and then what denormalising means in BI. Its a massive subject so a search will give you lots of material to get you started.

In Qlikview, we are looking for a denormalised data model, often called a star schema and is the structure behind most data warehouses.

For QlikView and indeed BI in general, one generally wants a de-normalized data model usually as a star schema.
