sending mail from desktop qvw app

How to send the mail from desktop qvw app? Please help to provide the steps or blog post.

Navigation: Settings > User Preferences > Mail

I tried Setting it up like this using a gmail account but its giving me errors.

Server: smtp.gmail.com

Port: 465

Is there anything i am getting wrong?
