What is the definition of App Data Segment in Qlik Sense?

Qlik Sense comes with a built-in read-only security rule called ReadAppDataSegments. That rule states:

"Everyone who has read rights to an app should also have read rights to app data segments belonging to that app"

What is an App Data Segment?

This seems to be a combination of app's script and data that has been loaded into an app.

Can anyone confirm or disprove?
