Add multiple fields/drag a group of fields to sheet object at once
It should be possible to add multiple fields or click and drag a group of fields to sheet object at once. Today you can only add one field at a time which is time consuming. This feature exist in QlikView. Dimensions and measures in master items should be working like this too. This should be useful in objects like straight tables or pivot tables where you want a lot of dimensions and measures.
Selecting multiple fields should be done by "CTRL" click.
I see three different ways this can be done.
Possibility to add multiple dimensions/measures at once through "Add dimension"/"Add measure" in sheet object. Should be possible to filter fields by table here as well.
Possibility to drag multiple dimensions/measures at once to sheet object.
Possibility to add multiple dimensions/measures at once where you select columns in object properties. Should be possible to filter fields by table here as well.
Hi @Meghann_MacDonald I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you. None of them are the same. I was to vague in my description of the idea. What I meant in general is dragging or adding dimensions/measures (or alternate dimensions like one of the other ideas) in different ways especially to tables where you often have a lot of columns. I will clarify the idea. Hopefully you could open the idea again 🙂
I am still thinking it falls in the same category as Jdiaz's idea to "allow for multiple selections from the lists displayed" "when picking alternate dimensions and measures in visualizations..." - aka the ability to select multiple dimensions or measures and add them all at once, or like in your second picture, select multiple to drag them in?
I think it makes sense to request a functionality that is basically "CTRL" click to select multiple fields to add, but I do think that the request is encompassed in both of those ideas. Then again your idea includes the most context and suggestions..... 🙂
Thanks for opening up the idea again @Meghann_MacDonald Yes, I liked Jdiaz's idea and is sort of the same but he only addresses alternate dimensions/measures while my focus is dimensions and measures which is more often used. Maybe I'm too picky 🙂
Great idea about clarifying the "CTRL" click. I will add that to the idea. I assumed we all do that when selecting multiple items but it can be good to explain.
