Availability for the reload data action (button object) not only for app owner (Qlik Sense SaaS)

Unfortunately, the reload data action for the button object works only if you are the owner of the Qlik Sense app (Qlik Sense SaaS). In our use case, a user (e.g. analyzer with space edit permissions) should be able to reload the application with changed data from an excel file.

As an app owner I can also just go into the data load editor to reload the app. Please make the reload data action available to other users as well.

Thank you

Christoph

Hello. Are you sure it's not a question of security rules? On Qlik Sense EOW, I had to set a little security rules to make the old reload on demand extension to work with a custom property.

Best regards,

Simon

Hi @simonaubert

Thanks for the advice. On QSEoW it could be a question of security rules. Unfortunately, on Qlik Sense Enterprise SaaS we are not able to configure security rules.

Best

You can work around this limitation with app automations.

Make an automation that reloads the app and has a webhook trigger.

Have a button that opens a URL and insert the webhook as the target.

It will open a new window/tab for the user, but it will trigger the reload.

Not seamless, but it works.

Hi @AlexOmetis

Thanks that works. 🙂

As you mentioned the new window/tab is not very intuitive for the user.

Hi @Ian_Crosland

I don't think it is partially delivered. It's a work around with Qlik Application Automation. But the idea is about the reload action of the button object.

Cheers

I believe, you will need to ensure that the users have access to the corresponding data connections in the app.  At least that is how it is done in Enterprise with the Action = reload data for buttons.

Unfortunately, this is not possible in Qlik SaaS.
