Custom banners on Qlik Sense Hub

It would be great to be able to display custom banners within Qlik Sense Hubs to display announcements at the top, for example if there is an upcoming maintenance for your Qlik Sense instance, this is a very simple way to let your users know. Ideally, you would be able to turn the banner off/on and customize the message and even add a hyperlink for more details.

Hi @cjderrick by reading your suggested idea, this sounds like you are asking for this in the interest of a QSE Client Managed / on windows installation ? We are considering this and we will investigate if and how we can do this. We will update the idea as soon as we have more details to share.

Best regards and happy holidays,

Thomas

Hi, cjderrick and

My customer and i want and need this feature too. Right now we have to manipulate the Hub thru the hub.css file to make it happened. Like described here. This is actually unacceptable cause it could, if even not yet, break thru the next update.

My customer has Qlik Sense Enterprise server.

There are a few workarround description the community since 2018 and it seems not to be to unimportand to add as a feature.

We would apprichiate if you could  add this feature soon.

Best regards

@DavidGieseStenaline

So now the custom banner function is released. In QMC I can now set and activate custom banner messages, but they don't appear in the hub. Documentation says they should be visible "to all users unless you specify a select group by editing the default security rule" and I haven't created any such security rules. The banners are enabled and auditing user access shows that all users have CRUD access to them (only admins on this server so far).

Yeah I think they forgot to create default security rule for them, simply create one (like on pic.) and they will appear.

Hi all ... as it was already mentioned above, the issue is related to a security rule which does not get created during some upgrade scenarios. We have not seen that problem in our pre release tests but we are already working on a solution which we are planning to deliver as part of patch 1. In the meantime, in order to get our new custom banner capability to work now, adding a security rule like suggested by @janyf will do that for you.

We do apologise for any inconveniences ...

Best regards,

Thomas

I actually did not get it to work with the user.name like "*" rule, but in my dev environment the upgrade was successful including the custom banners security rules, and there it looks like the image I'm attaching. When I wrote it in the same way in the production environment, the banners appears.

Now we just need conditional banners with conditional/programmable content... 😊
