Suggest an Idea

As it is, I spend a lot of my time, waiting for the QMC to finish running a query that I actually did not want it to run, because I want results based on more than one column filter.

I would like to propose that this behavior be changed to improve usability and improve system performance.

There should be a button that executes the query, instead of having the query execute every time anything changes. This will allow the user to enter in all the details for their query, perhaps for 2 or more columns, and not have to wait in between for the QMC to process each part (wait for the answer to the wrong question), which for long lists can be slow and annoying. 

If you think there are some user out there that want to keep the current behavior,  perhaps a toggle shown on the screen to allow the user to  indicate if they want to utilize this improved behavior.   (Ideally, there should be a user's profile area where preferences could be set, but that is another idea)

Hi @Ken_T and thank you for sharing this idea with us. I'm changing the Status to "Delivered" as we did actually delivered a few things within that area.

1. Caching in the QMC which allows you to switch between tables much quicker without loading the whole table again

2. Bookmarks based on filters you can define yourself in the QMC

3. AMC for task management if you have users using the QMC only for Task Management, they can use the AMC (Application Management Console) as well. And we are adding the ability to manage & create your tasks as well into the Hub. Some of it will be there already in February on top of what we delivered in November. And there is more to come in April next year where the plan is to allow you as well to create and manage tasks in the Hub.

Let me / us know if those improvements I just mentioned are helpful for your scenario.

I would consider this not delivered, any time I change a value that I searched for, the entire list refreshes, and I have to wait for it to show me results that I do not want to see, before I can then type in criteria in another column to see the results I actually want to see. As it is, this is terribly inefficient, and very bad usability.  If I want to search for a specific user by email, I have to first wait for it to show me a list of users I do not want to see. then I query for the one I want to see. suppose I then want to search by a user custom property.  I add the column as it is not visible at default.  I then have to wait for it to build a list of results i do not want or need to see.  Then, I can query for the result i need.  each wait, adds up.  If there was an execute query button, this would save so much time, and qlc users would not have to wait for results to questions that they did not want to ask, over and over and over again, every day.

pro tip in the QMC, if you have filtered for something and then need to do a filter for a second different column, enter in your new filter BEFORE clearing the old filter, because  this way you will not have to wait for the QMC to show you a list of results that you do not need. PS, this is still not delivered 🙂

Hi @Ken_T , can you please re-submit your request as a new idea with the commented information? That way we can ensure that R&D is looking at the request for entire list not refreshing, custom property, etc, since your idea is regarding refreshing the whole table when switching, task management etc. 

Re-submitting with the new information will also likely get more engagement with the ideas likes and comments.
