Qlik Sense SaaS - change app owner in Hub

Admins of a space should be able to change the app owner. At the moment you can only do this via the Console and you have to be a TenantAdmin which doesn't scale at all well for distributed development.

Hi Alex

I have found I can change the owner of the apps in the console fine (as tenant admin), but the problem I'm having is that if there are any unpublished sheets in the app then the "new owner" cannot see these, in other words the new owner doesn't inherit them for some reason. Have you come across this?

The only workaround I can think of is to duplicate the apps at present, unless the previous owner makes all the sheets public prior t changing ownership the inherited owner cannot see them?

Would appreciate your thoughts.

Hi @AlexOmetis sorry for the delay and thanks for sharing this idea with us.

I'm closing it as declined as we removed that capability a while ago from the Hub and allowing only Admins to do this in the Management Console. This change was made on purpose as we have seen issues in scenarios where people have changed the owner while a user was editing the script. This resulted in corrupted apps and we are planning to allow users to edit the script because of permissions, not because you are the owner of the App. This means, the ownership of an App becomes a way less important.

Right now we can't change it back to allowing you to change the owner in the Hub again, because of the challenges I mentioned above. Being able to change / edit the script if you have "can edit" permissions is planned as a delivery via our roadmap backlog.

Best regards,

Thomas

Hi @Thomas_Hopp - that makes sense. The main use case is indeed the ability to easily change who can edit the script - look forward to seeing how you're going to handle this in the near future... check in/check out? Even version control?!

Hello @Thomas_Hopp ,

You said that : Being able to change / edit the script if you have "can edit" permissions is planned as a delivery via our roadmap backlog.

Is it on the roadmap ?

or maybe this ? https://community.qlik.com/t5/Suggest-an-Idea/Items-visible-in-Qlik-SAAS-QMC/idi-p/2007692#M10869
