Replicate to Confluence Kafka target support protobuf (gRPC) serialization in addition to JSON and Avro
We will use Confluence Kafka as a Replicate target, adding supported message formats to the Kafka registry. Using only minor Replicate-style transformations, we would take the source message and convert it directly to protobuf, avoiding the hop currently required (in a vanilla text-based) format. protobuf format can be serialized efficiently into binary form and is suitable for both Kafka messages and gRPC (web service) calls.
We will be picking this request up with R&D soon and starting the requirements and design process. No ETA yet, but I will keep this thread posted. If you would like to be a part of the review process, we would love to include a couple of customers, email me directly: bob.vecchione@qlik.com
