SORT (ORDER) FIELD (TABLE COLUMN) ON GUI BY INDEX

Hi Guys,

Assuming this capability is not available yet,
will be of great value to have the capability

to sort a list of fields in a table on both the app script and the user interface by an attached index to field name.

For example, using some kind of mapping to attached a sort order number to each column (fields), then automatically sort the table on both the script and UI by the "Column Sort Index" above.

ColumnSort( myField1, 1)

ColumnSort( myField3, 2)

ColumnSort( myField2, 3)

Best,
Aldo.

Hi Guys,
Modifying the sort order of fields in a UI table is pretty frustrating and time consuming.
Any updates regarding this topic?

Hi

thanks for submitting to ideation, the inline load capability in the script can be used to assign sort orders to be inherited in charts

a few examples below:

Thanks

Ian

Hi. Thanks for your answer but that is not the goal. The need is to have a better ability to order the list of fields while editing an object. The drag and drop option is not good enough.

Hi

Thanks for the update, from the original idea it listed a sample script to support this functionality which can be satisfied today with an inline load statement and selecting the order column to sort by.  This is also possible while editing an object and using sort by expression using a series of if statements to indicate a custom sort.

Thanks for using ideation and please raise a new idea if your goal is not satisfied by either approach detailed

I think the need is still not clear.

The goal is to have the ability to sort the fields themself, not the values in the fields.
If I create a table with more than 5 fields, changing/keeping static the order of the fields takes too much effort using the drag and drop option, which is up to now the only available option.
Aldo.
