This is posted on behave of customer:

We have some users (the majority of the user base) which don't have interest in web development or getting familiar with the engine api etc. It doesn't make sense that we should present them a button which pushes them to a new interface.

We want to limit access to it at all through the security rules.  Request Qlik to implement this feature.

Or be able to just disable this in production as most of this is going to happen in lower environments with internal developers.
