It would be great if there was an extra checkbox configuration option for pivot and straight tables to enable the display of 

1) Total # records

2) Selected / Filtered # records

Yes you can add this manually via expressions in different places but for quick analysis and less experienced users it would be a helpful value-add to get this out the box.
