How to verify ODBC/ OLE DB connections using Excel

When troubleshooting a generic ODBC / OLE DB connection issue in QlikView or Qlik Sense, an important step is to identify whether the issue is at the ODBC driver/ OLE DB provider or in Qlik product. Microsoft Excel can be used as a third-party tool to quickly test the ODBC/ OLEDB connection outside of Qlik product as follows:

Note: It is important that Excel is installed on the same server with QlikView/ Qlik Sense, and is executed under the same account running QlikView Server / Qlik Sense Engine services or QlikView/ Qlik Sense Desktop
