Qlik Sense: Exporting a bar chart as image not working when "box-shadow" styling is used in CSS

Qlik Sense: Exporting a bar chart as image not working when "box-shadow" styling is used in CSS

Exporting  a bar chart is not working when 'box-shadow' is used in CSS. Qlik Sense keeps trying to render the image and fails with error "an error occurred during the export. try again".

  • Import the attached 'Test_Box_Shadow.qvf 'and 'theme'.
  • Open the app and export as image

export error1.png

  • Edit the CSS file (in attached theme) and  remove (or comment) the line "box-shadow: 0px 1px 20px 0px rgba(69,90,100,.08);"
  • Export to image again, the "export as image" works.

  • Qlik Sense (all versions)

The problem is the "box-shadow", which compromises the rendering heuristics in the printing service

A workaround is to make the export work by keeping the "bow-shadow" while browsing only. A way to do this is to add a specificity rule to the theme css to remove the box-shadow during an export.
