Qlik Sense for Windows: How to create a custom claim for SAML in Azure

This article explains how to create a custom SAML claim in Azure to use as the User ID in Qlik Sense.

For example, this can be used as a workaround to simply extract the username from the UPN or extract the domain name in case of users from different domains.

Environments:

Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows June 2017 and later

 

Resolution

In Azure, go to the Enterprise Application created to integrate Qlik Sense with SAML.

Go to Single Sign-on > User Attributes & Claims and choose Edit

Choose a name and a namespace for the custom claim:

Choose "Transformation" and set it up as below:

 Click "Add" then press "Save" to save the custom claim

 

Now, the only remaining step is to add this claim in the virtual proxy settings in the Qlik Sense Management console:
