Analyzer capacity license is a consumption-based licensing model introduced in Qlik Sense February 2019 which allows a pool of user to consume apps by unit of time (unit is 6 minutes) without the need of having a license assigned to a user (named user).

When a user from the pool logs in the hub and opens an app he/she will consume 1 unit after 6 minutes and extra unit will be consumed thereafter in increments. For example: If the user stays in for 15 minutes, 3 units will be consumed (18 minutes) as a unit started is marked as a unit consumed.
No consumption is registered if the user is logged in but idle (not opening apps, sheets,...).

When all analyzer units have been consumed, no users from the pool can access Qlik Sense, until the monthly reset occurs. To avoid lockout, coverage can be added to the subscription. Coverage is a function that allows to buy minutes packages automatically when consumed, it can either be unlimited or with a defined ceiling. For more information see Page 2 under License Metrics Qlik Sense and Qlik Analytics Platform.

Here is an example of license with 1000 minutes of Analyzer Capacity: More information under Analyzer Capacity License

Here is an example in Qlik Sense Enterprise on Cloud Services (QSEoCS): Some documentation is available under "Analyzer capacity (minutes)" in License / User Allocation

Important:
An access to the Internet is required to use this type of license.
You must have a Signed License Key (SLK) to replace the serial number (old license). More information under Licensing Qlik Sense for Analyzer Capacity

Hi @Thomas_Hopp, we're getting to the end of May, is there any update on this?

Hi @Carl_Hunter and everyone reading this thread, sorry for the little delay here in my response. We are very close and we will be able to release an App which we most probably going to call "user analyzer" within the next few days. The reason why we ended up in using a couple of more days is, that we decided on not only exposing the use of Analyzer Capacity in more detail but as well changing the way how we consume capacity units. It will focus on analytics events but not on batch driven events, which makes it more clear and easier to manage. This change will be introduced as well very soon (I'll keep you updated on that too). Still, what you are going to see first within a few days is the App which does include data from new Endpoints which we added. Here is a screenshot of the data model that we are going to use in the App:

The Plan is to add even more data into this App by keeping the focus on usage / consumption analysis.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Regards, Thomas

Thanks for sharing @Thomas_Hopp , looking forward to seeing this.

Regarding "not on batch driven events", does this mean that a chart added to the hub by a user without a named licence will not consume capacity whilst the user is not logged in?

Cheers,

Steve

This is great news @Thomas_Hopp !

Looking very much forward to this application.

As this app is focusing on consumption of Analyzer Capacity, will it also be possible to analyze users with a Analyzer license, that is using their license so little, that it would make sense to "downgrade" them to a analyzer capacity?

As I can see from the datamodel it is also possible to monitor which apps the users are using. But is this only for Analyzer Capacity as well? Because it would be very nice to have a general monitoring of app usage, for all users and their license types - just like the good old monitor apps from QSE 🙂

This sounds like a very useful addition to Qlis Sense SaaS, @Thomas_Hopp.

For our organization, it is essential to be able to monitor the usage of EACH license type (not just Analyzer Capacity), so that we can shift users from one license type to another, for instance "upgrade" a heavy user from Analyzer Capacity  to Analyzer. And vice versa. It would be awesome if you could develop an engine that automatically shifts users between licenses (Analyzer and Analyzer Capacity) based on their historical usage and some kind of break-even point for shifting a user from Analyzer to Analyzer Capacity and vice versa.

Also - as the previous commentator (@inspari_dfg ) mentioned - what is really needed is the ability to monitor the usage of apps and sheets. For our organization, it is essential to be able to monitor user adoption of published apps and sheets, and today there is no way that we can monitor that in Qlik Sense SaaS, unfortunately.

Keep up the good work...

Best regards, Kim Madsen

@inspari_dfg , yes ... we are days away from us publishing the App. We are targeting June 22nd for a release of the App. So far it looks promising that we do not have to delay this. Regards, Thomas

Hi all, just a heads up to the thread .. .we are planning to make the new API endpoint available this week and delivering the App via the community on Tuesday next week.

Apologise for the delay but we added actually more to it as we initially planned ... which is what you'll see next week when you can use the App.

As with the App Analyzer, please share / provide the feedback to us via the community post which we will upload next week.

Best regards,

Thomas
