Analyzer capacity license is a consumption-based licensing model introduced in Qlik Sense February 2019 which allows a pool of user to consume apps by unit of time (unit is 6 minutes) without the need of having a license assigned to a user (named user).

When a user from the pool logs in the hub and opens an app he/she will consume 1 unit after 6 minutes and extra unit will be consumed thereafter in increments. For example: If the user stays in for 15 minutes, 3 units will be consumed (18 minutes) as a unit started is marked as a unit consumed.
No consumption is registered if the user is logged in but idle (not opening apps, sheets,...).

When all analyzer units have been consumed, no users from the pool can access Qlik Sense, until the monthly reset occurs. To avoid lockout, coverage can be added to the subscription. Coverage is a function that allows to buy minutes packages automatically when consumed, it can either be unlimited or with a defined ceiling. For more information see Page 2 under License Metrics Qlik Sense and Qlik Analytics Platform.

Here is an example of license with 1000 minutes of Analyzer Capacity: More information under Analyzer Capacity License

Here is an example in Qlik Sense Enterprise on Cloud Services (QSEoCS): Some documentation is available under "Analyzer capacity (minutes)" in License / User Allocation

Important:
An access to the Internet is required to use this type of license.
You must have a Signed License Key (SLK) to replace the serial number (old license). More information under Licensing Qlik Sense for Analyzer Capacity

@Thomas_Hopp : Is there a link to this new app? Or is it available directly in Qlik SaaS (where / how)?

Hi @blipblopdk Kim, thanks for reaching out and sorry for delivering it a little later than planned. We had to fix one last minute change yesterday and we will release the App later today. I'll post the link in the thread but it will be released the same way as the App Analyzer. Meaning in it's own post in the community. Here is a screenshot of the script intro which you'll see later today 🙂

Hi all ... just in case not all of you have seen the post already, the App is live since yesterday. Here is the link to the post and I'll post the answers to your questions @blipblopdk over there as well in a minute.

There will be a few more changes behind the scenes coming in over the next few days, which basically takes care of using less workload types (events) for consuming Analyzer Capacity. As the App right now shows you the usage, we are going to update the workload types we are using when it comes to consume Analyzer Capacity. This will have a positive impact in terms of less capacity units will be consumed comparing to todays behaviour.

Best regards,

Thomas

@Thomas_Hopp

That is great news that the app is up, and also excellent to hear about the workload types that will not consume capacity.

Can you please expand on what these types are?

I feel it should not consume capacity are when a user publishes a chart to their hub and it is refreshed (without being viewed) and also it would be nice if subscriptions did not consume capacity.

Thanks in advance,

Steve

@stevedark sure thing, it will mainly be consumed only for the actual event of opening an App. But I'll share more details about it when we finished all the testing. It should be a matter of days here as we are very close to releasing it.

Best regards,

Thomas

@Andre_Sostizzo , @Thomas_Hopp   (-please forward to correct people...)

Not sure if this is the right post, but there's a minor bug in the License Monitor app  7.18.0 - as shipped with the May 2021 release.

We have an install where all the capacity minutes have been used up.  The app fails to reload in the section "supportingLogic".

The variable vs_analyzer_capacity_per_day is failing to evaluate. This is the line:

Let vs_analyzer_capacity_per_day = Ceil($(vs_analyzer_capacity_Used)/(today(1)-MonthStart(Today(1))+1));

In this case vs_analyzer_capacity_Used seems to be "1,000" (set a few rows above with  a "Num" format).  Remove the dollar sign expansion and the reload works OK as the comma is lost.

Also looks like the message needs to accommodate that fact that all the minutes have been used.

We also need some usage stats for the capacity minutes usage so we can assign these heavy users a named licence. Not having this available for SaaS seems like a massive oversight (perhaps it's deliberate to use up more minutes?).

Hi @mark_a_jones

Thankfully more endpoints are now available. Search Community for the Entitlement Analyser. Upload this to Cloud, plumb in your API key and then you can see who is consuming the most minutes.

You will probably want to expand it with more charts, but this will get the data you require.

Thanks @stevedark, found the app and this has given us what we were looking for to help manage users.

Ideally this info would be built into the QMC to make management of users and licences easier in a future update.
