Hello Qlik Users!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

A defect with a work around has been identified that causes Qlik Sense Desktop June 2020 to crash when authenticating if a previous version of Qlik Sense Desktop was installed.  We anticipate correcting this defect in the coming days with a new install file.  Until the defect has been corrected there are two options:

  1. Clean install
    1. Backup all apps (QVF files) in existing install.  The default location is %UserProfile%\My Documents\Qlik\Sense\Apps
    2. Uninstall the previous version of Qlik Sense Desktop
    3. Remove all files from %LocalAppData%\Programs\Qlik
    4. Install Qlik Sense Desktop June 2020
    5. Proceed with authenticating Qlik Sense Desktop as documented
  2. Do not upgrade to Qlik Sense Desktop June 2020 until the fix is released
    1. Continue to use Qlik Sense Desktop in free mode or authenticated mode.
    2. Note: Qlik will continue to allow for the free use of Qlik Sense Desktop until 1 week after releasing a fix.

We apologize for any inconvenience this causes and will let you know what the new installation file is available for download. We will also let you know the new end date for free use of Qlik Sense Desktop.

Please let us know if you have any questions. Give this post a thumbs up if you see it and please share it with your colleagues! If you’re not already, subscribe to the Qlik Support Updates Blog to stay up-to-date.

Kind regards,

Qlik Digital Support

I followed the all steps described in the first option.

- After installing Qlik Sense Desktop June 2020 (d), I go to personal-info page in my Qlik Cloud;

- Click on Authenticate button;

- Qlik Sense Desktop is opened with the address for my cloud filled bellow the message: Authenticate against Qlik Sense Enterprise or Qlik Sense Business;

- But after clicking on the address, Qlik Sense Desktop is closed and none message error is showed!

Can you help to solve?

Hi,

I'd like to know if the client decided they don't want to upgrade their enterprise server and their desktop version to June 2020 because they want to sync the development, will they be able to use the client authentication smoothly? Or to enable them to use the qlik sense desktop using the client authentication, they must upgrade to June 2020 version for both enterprise server and desktop?

Thanks.

@decisionone , your issue will be fixed in a few days when they will release a new installation file.

@Hann You can use the authentication link in the current version of your Qlik environment, so there is no rush to upgrade to jun/2020.

@pablolabbe , the option 1 didn't work. I would like to avoid uninstall the current version.

Dear @pablolabbe ,

How about some of the user who got an error message when they clicked the client authentication friendly name?

Error message:

"You cannot access the selected hub because you have no access pass"

This user are using the windows for their windows authentication pattern.

If you have a partner account, log into that account and access the download site. You should now be able to download all (if not most) of the older versions of QS Desktop.

If not, contact your (former?) Qlik Partner and ask them to download it for you.

As a 3rd alternative: Some partners offer the Desktop version for download via their website and haven't updated the version yet.
