Hello All Qlik Sense Mobile Users,
 
Currently, there is an issue affecting Qlik Sense Mobile when used in combination with iOS / iPadOS 13 and the Airwatch VMware per-app VPN.  Specifically, this issue breaks offline functionality.
 
Below you will find a couple of possible example scenarios:
  1. iPhone/iPad device enrolled in VMware (Airwatch) MDM with per-App VPN
  2. Turn off wifi/cellular data or walk out of range (subsequently, there is no internet connection of any kind)
  3. Launch QSM
  4. => QSM displays a fatal error dialog (“The Qlik Sense Mobile app has encountered a network error and must stop. Start the mobile app.”)
  5. Restarting leads to the same error.
     
And a variation on the theme:
  1. iPhone/iPad device enrolled in Airwatch MDM with per-App VPN
  2. Launch QSM
  3. Turn off wifi/cellular data or walk out of range
  4. => QSM displays a fatal error dialog (“The Qlik Sense Mobile app has encountered a network error and must stop. Start the mobile app.”)
  5. Restarting leads to the same error.
 
Online functionality will be restored after returning to a network area or wi-fi/cellular data is turned on.
 
Not affected by this issue:
  1. Online functionality 
  2. iOS 12 
  3. Devices not using VMWare Airwatch 
 
As of now, there is no workaround available.  We are actively investigating this, along with Apple and VMware.
 
Our current recommendation is to avoid upgrading iOS devices using the AirWatch VMware per-App VPN to iOS / iPadOS 13 (either 13.0 or 13.1), if the offline functionality is needed.
