You are right. You need to convert the individual tasks as execution plans. Each of these jobs can call multiple subjobs. that is not an issue. As long as they are independent, you can very well connect these jobs through plans.

I've followed the link you had provided and created 7 tasks and a plan(Plan which contains 7 tasks).
While testing, my task4 failed, how do you manually start the execution from task4 till end? Also, if I need to add another task between task 5 and 6 which will now total 8 tasks, how do we do that? It doesn't give me any option to move/add tasks in the plan.
NOTE: I've added all of my tasks in the plan using an option called Add Another Step
