Q&A:

Q: On Demand Qlik Sense report download is not taking parameters entered through button using input variable for report selection.

A: Input variable selections are not supported. Must be a directly associative selection. See answer in video.

Q: I have created a button for Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly and created a variable vSelectButton" for this in which we are passing 3 by default for Monthly. So, monthly will be selected by
default. A table is on the dashboard which is showing Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly data according to button selected. We are generating a on-demand report for this table but this is generating only for
monthly only as we have given as default in the variable.

A: Same answer as the previous question. Input variable selections are not supported. Must be a directly associative selection. See answer in video.

Q: Is it possible to generate reports into Excel and other Microsoft apps?

A: Yes! MS Excel, PPTX and Docx are supported.

Q: Is NPrinting same as like PDF?

A: There are several formats available for NPrinting reports. I think Pixel Perfect reports are recommended for PDF. Here's a link with more information.

Q: We have frequency filters like daily weekly monthly but when we download on-demand report we are getting by default monthly report. How to resolve this issue? Please help.

A: If your filter uses a variable, this is not supported. Must be a directly associative selection. See answer in video.

Q: Is NPrinting being replaced with Qlik Automation?

A: NPrinting is the Client Managed (On-Premise) reporting solution. Qlik Reporting Services (Application Automation)  is the Cloud (SaaS) reporting solution. Here's a link with more information.

Q: Is there a way to replicate NPrinting PG DB from active to passive environment similar to Qlik Sense? Any documentation about it?

A: There is no built-in failover mechanisms. You can stand up a stand-by server and restore your NP database to that as needed. See how to backing and restore and NPrinting database in the community knowledge base.

Q: Hi, how can I schedule automatic reports with fix/variable selections (current week, ...) in the front end by end-user, like you can for export to excel?

A: A good solution would be to utilize Newsstand to select reports that are generated on a weekly basis. Unfortunately, it is not possible to automate on-demand reports as they are 'On-Demand'.

Q: It has been confirmed with Qlik that the OnDemand button only supports Windows NTLM authentication, that is when a user logs in to Qlik Sense via Windows, the OnDemand button then logs the user into NPrinting via Windows and the reports get generated immediately.
However, when a user is logged in to Qlik Sense via SAML authentication in Qlik Sense and NPrinting, The OnDemand button does not automatically authenticate the user into NPrinting and the report
is not generated. Is this functionality on the roadmap to develop in the near future?

A: To request this feature, please reference the Qlik Community 'ideas' web site to submit this as a feature request.

Q: Great presentation Frank, thank you very much! By having/not having a SSL cert properly installed/applied into both ends, does it affect the extension somehow?

A: Yes, you will need to log into NPrinting webconsole first before opening the Qlik Sense hub to export your report. Otherwise the attempt to export the report will fail if the certificates are not configured accurately.

Q: Does On-Demand work with SAML authentication?

A: Unfortunately not yet. Please submit this as a product feature request in the Ideation section of Qlik Community.

Q: We are using NPrinting May2021, it looks like URL's are not supported in the NPrinting Excel templates for table view. So, we added an If condition in the custom column to show the URL in excel template. Since, it's a custom column which doesn't exist in the Qlik Sense app, we applied the custom formula to 10k rows, we were unable to gauge how many rows needs to have this custom formula as the no. of rows is dynamic everyday. This is causing the size of the output file to be 8MB. Is there a way to make it dynamic?

A: Please post this question to the Qlik NPrinting community as a new discussion point so we can better understand exactly what your requirement is. It seems you have 3 different questions in this one question. Perhaps a professional services consultant may be needed to help you with your detailed required through a vigorous and thorough needs/requirements analysis.

Q: Any considerations for SAML authentication via AZURE SSO?

A: Unfortunately not yet. Please submit this as a product feature request in the Ideation section of Qlik Community.

Q: We had some issues with newsstand and web console showing up in our installation. Do you have any advice for getting this started?

A: Recommended working with your account manager to arrange a Qlik professional services engagement to assist you in fully configuring your environment from end to end.

Q: You filled in the domain account for the NPAdmin user in NPrinting. Is that required for just the system account used to integrate with NPrinting? Or for any/all users who wish to run On-Demand Reports from the QS server?

A: NPrinting is installed in a domain where domain authentication is required to executed successfully On-Demand reports. Each NP user must be mapped to a domain account.

Q: The system prompts for user name and password before using On-Demand print button. Can we override that prompt?

A: You can enter custom settings in your internet options and choose 'use same domain user and password.'

Q: Do we need any special license for this?

A: No. NP on-demand is available with your deployment of Qlik Sense and NPrinting server. The end user of course must have licensed access to the Qlik Sense hub however. See answer in video.

Q: Do you have the SAML authentication support on the roadmap for on demand functionality?

A: I can't speak for Product Management, but nothing on the roadmap. Please submit this as a product feature request in the Ideation section of Qlik Community.

Q: We have on demand setup on a clustered environment in QlikView. However, I don't see load balancing across all the front end nodes, why is that?

A: To address setup and configuration concerns, it may be prudent to seek out Qlik Professional Services to evaluate and resolve your setup and configuration problems. However, if you mean that you don't see the On-Demand buttons on each QV web access point server, you must install them on each QV IIS accesspoint server. This is a complex configuration that may require professional services to complete for you.

Q: Is authentication via SAML for on demand reporting developed in the near future?

A: I can't speak for Product Management, but nothing on the roadmap. Please submit this as a product feature request in the Ideation section of Qlik Community.

Q: How do you export NPrinting reports and tasks from one environment to another?

A: You can export individual reports from one environment to another using the export/import tool in the NP web console 'report' page. You may also backup and restore the entire NPrinting database from one location to another. See KB how to backup Nprinting database from end to end.

Q: How do you setup an NPrinting clustered environment?

A: There is no built-in failover mechanisms. You can stand up a stand by server and restore your NP database to that as needed. See how to backing and restore and NPrinting database in the community knowledge base. However, you can deploy multiple NPrinting engines if you required greater overall performance and stability if you are concerned that any one engine might go offline.

Q: What will happen when its all cloud (no on-prem servers) still is it possible to use NPrinting as service *(some day)?

A: I don't believe this is on the roadmap. Please submit this as a product feature request in the Ideation section of Qlik Community.
