Configuring and Troubleshooting NPrinting Server Service and Schedules

Q&A - Configuring and Troubleshooting your NPrinting Implementation

Q: What are recommendations around installing NPrint server on same machine as QV Server?

A: Visit configuration and troubleshooting link https://community.qlik.com/docs/DOC-8447

Q: is it a must you have a qvw open for you to use NPrinting?

A: Yes, see architecture portion of the Presentation video.

Q: I have seen "enumeration errors" in the logs. Why do i get these, and how do i resolve it?

A: Contact the Qlik Support desk for a deeper investigation.

Q: How would you scale an Nprinting server?

A: The NP server is very low on necessary requirements. https://community.qlik.com/docs/DOC-8440

See also the NPrinting training material for comprehensive links which will assist you with configuring your NP environment, https://community.qlik.com/docs/DOC-9196

You must scale the environment from where the QV desktop processes the NP reports. Remember that the QV desktop does most of the heavy lifting. NP simply sends API calls to the QV desktop. Please refer to the architecture section of the presentation video.

Q: what doe's access violation #01B52274 mean?

A: NPrinting cannot communicate with or 'access' the QVW, NSQ or report template. Use the lessons taught in the presentation to resolve the issue. If it persists, contact the Qlik Support Desk for further investigation

Q: Will it be possible with new releases of Nprinting to install the designer without installing the NPrinting server in my envoriment?

A: Yes, you can run NPrinting Designer and execute schedules for a single NSQ at a time using the schedule button in the NPrinting designer. This is not recommended since you must keep the NP desktop open, unlocked and powered on with no screen savers. Use NP server recommended to automate schedules securely for more that 1 NSQ.

Q: The report hangs and ahut down if i do not make selections. Is it possible to generate a report without selections?

A: There could be many reasons for the hang. You may have complex formulas in your report which cause hanging behavior or your QVW is damaged in some way. Or you may have a macro that is preventing the qVW from opening.

You can use the lessons shown in the presentation to resovle this issue.

Yes it is possible to generate a report without selections.

If you continue to experience the issue, please contact the Qlik support desk.

Q: Are there any OnDemand considerations that we should be aware of for configuring NP + QV?

A: Yes. See the following On Demand requirements link https://community.qlik.com/docs/DOC-8454

Q: Are there any limitations connected to the size of the Excel created by NPrinting?

A: NPrinting is only limited by the limitations of Excel

Q: Why does not Nprinting find objects that are in containers?

A: Older versions of NPrinting cannot see objects inside containers.

NP 16 SR3 can view objects inside containers.
