Usage Guidelines for Qlik Community

QlikTech Inc. and its affiliates, “Qlik”, provides Qlik Community as a resource to its users, customers and partners to help them collaborate, share information/best practices and submit ideas regarding the Qlik software products. Qlik Community is a global environment for the benefit of all registered members and is provided free of charge. Like any community or forum, Qlik Community is most valuable when everyone follows basic guidelines for online behavior. Please follow these guidelines when participating in Qlik Community.

Please remember...

Qlik reserves the right in its sole discretion, to:

  • Edit and/or remove any post, at any time, without notice, including posts containing or linking to material in violation of our Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, Trademark Policy
  • Terminate, at any time, without notice, the membership of any user who violates the Terms of Use or these Usage Guidelines.

If you have any doubts about whether your post or link may violate these guidelines, please ask the Qlik Community Manager or a Moderator before posting.

How to get help

  • If you have a support related or urgent issue please reach out to your assigned support personnel for assistance. Qlik Community is not intended to replace the services provided by your support contract.
  • If you would like to post a question or information regarding a QlikView product or service, it should be posted to the corresponding forum in Qlik Community.
  • If you are unsure about a specific Community feature or function, or have feedback regarding the site itself, check the Community Information forum.
  • Questions or concerns regarding actions taken by the staff should be directed to a Moderator, or Administrator via Private Message (PM) or e-mail
  • Qlik employee participants are identified in their profile and may  use the Qlik logo.
  • Qlik Community Specialists may be identified with a specific Qlik badge.

Keep it relevant

For everyone's benefit please stay on topic. Qlik Community is specifically provided to allow users and customers of Qlik to help each other in using Qlik products and associated assistance from Qlik. Please refrain from discussing off-topic matters, abusing any company or product, or, in general, from posting in a manner unrelated to the resolution of issues regarding Qlik product and services.

Keep it courteous

Everyone wants to have a positive experience while Qlik Community – your use of Qlik Community should not detract from any other user's experience. In particular, please refrain from posting anything defamatory, obscene, infringing or other unlawful material or information.

Your opinions are always welcome, but personal attacks and harassment ("flaming") of other members in either Qlik Community or through Private Messaging (PM) is not acceptable.

Keep it clear

Please communicate clearly so everyone may understand. Avoid using slang, "net speak" or any other wording which might be difficult for all users to understand.  We are a diverse community and seek to provide a comfortable environment where you can easily get help from other users. We ask that you post resources and discussion topics in English language so the majority of members can read and respond. We also offer alternate language groups to foster interaction in your local language. If you need help locating an alternate language group please email the Qlik Community Manager.

Keep it spam-free

Qlik Community is provided as a service to Qlik users and customers and is not intended for the promotion of yours or other third party services, products, websites, or organizations. Posting content that would constitute advertising, junk mail, spam, chain letters, or any other form of solicitation will not be tolerated.

If you do share or promote your materials or products, please be sure referencing them is directly relevant to the topic at hand.  Please only share or promote materials which you own or have the rights to distribute, and which you provide free of charge in entirety on Qlik Community. Documents, links and downloads referencing content owned by other entities, linking to an external site requiring payment or personal information will be deleted.

Be careful

You should not post personal information publicly on Qlik Community including your name and address, age, phone number, social security number or other personal identification number.  Most people in Qlik Community are happy to help out, but remember that their advice is theirs only and that you are responsible for deciding whether or not to follow it.  Qlik is not responsible for advice given in Qlik Community.

Community moderators

Qlik Community is staffed entirely by Qlik employees. Qlik may designate certain non-employee members as a guest blogger or feature them as a valued member of Qlik Community.  This designation does not create an employee or agency relationship between Qlik and this member, nor does it make this member a company spokesperson.  Instead, the designation allows Qlik Community to know which members have been helpful, have provided constructive advice and have set a positive example and tone for Qlik Community.  Like any information posted on the Community, the opinions and advice provided by these members are their own and are subject to these guidelines and Terms of Use.

Qlik branding, logo and image usage

Qlik’s name, logo and imagery are protected by intellectual property laws and not intended to be used by non-employees.  Members are not permitted to use Qlik’s intellectual property in profile names, images, descriptions, any postings or otherwise in Qlik Community.

Qlik employee usage

Qlik employees are encouraged to participate in Qlik Community and are reminded that their activities here are governed by Qlik’s Social Media Policy.

I think most of those rules are implicitly followed by the posters here, as they are a helpful, knowledgeable and courteous group of people.

Good to see there are now some published guidelines for engaging in Qlik Community.  I've posted my thoughts on some further guidelines here: Further thoughts on Qlik Community Guidelines
