Sudden and frequent connection issues - Qlik Cloud

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this post, but the "Help/Support" section in the menu doesn't lead anywhere, so this seemed like the best option.

I've been having "connection" issues on Qlik Cloud for a while. It's not like it ends my session or anything, but it sometimes becomes quite laggy, forcing me to refresh the page frequently. This happens especially on the load editor page, and it's not like I'm trying to load anything large. Sometimes, even a simple inline table for testing causes a blank loading popup that lasts up to two minutes — nothing is displayed, but the timer keeps running. As soon as I refresh the page, a small alert box appears with a message saying something like "your changes could not be saved." Many times, it actually doesn't save them, which often leads to me losing everything I've written in the script.

This happens so often that I’ve started copying everything I write before running the script — it’s become a survival habit. In the past, we could at least close the loading popup by pressing ESC and copy everything, but for some reason, that doesn’t work anymore.

Another annoying issue is how long the load editor page takes to fully load. Since the "Data Sources" and "Preview/Output" side/bottom panels were implemented, the page sometimes takes up to a minute to load. It helps if I close them immediately, which sometimes makes the page available faster. It doesn’t really make sense for them to be open by default — if someone wants to use them, they can just click to open them.

I love Qlik and don’t have much to complain about overall — it’s a great tool. But this is just so frustrating. I'm sure it's not my connection. Could it be some kind of configuration issue? Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi Pedro,

Is your tenant in a region close to you? Qlik has released several new tenant regions in 2025 and 2026.

I ask about the region, because latency could cause instability depending on  the internet provider.

Quick question.... Do you have a Data Gateway installed somewhere? If you are on the same network as the data gateway, you could check the server logs to confirm if there are network issues between your location and Qlik Cloud.

It is in the nature of the websockets to require a stable connection.

Let us know! I have not had any issues as you are describing though.

Hi Hugo,

Thanks for your reply.

We don’t have a Data Gateway—we rely entirely on Qlik Cloud, as our data is retrieved via API.

Our tenant is hosted in the US, while we’re based in Brazil. It’s not exactly close, but I believe it should be close enough not to cause these issues. Do you think this could be a factor?

Are there any other logs that I might be able to check on?

Hi @pedrohenriqueperna,

Yes, I do think the tenant region can be a factor here.

That distance will not always cause problems, but it can make websocket-based pages like the Data Load Editor more sensitive to latency or short network interruptions. So even if the session stays open, you can still get the lag, blank popup, or unsaved changes behavior you described.

My first recommendation would be to test from a different network, ideally a stable wired connection or mobile hotspot, just to confirm whether the issue is path/latency related between your location and the US tenant.

Without a Data Gateway, there is not much infrastructure logging on your side to inspect. In this case, the most useful evidence is usually a browser HAR capture plus the browser console/network errors while reproducing the issue.

My next step would be to open a Qlik Support case with a HAR file captured during the problem, because that will give them something concrete to trace on the Qlik Cloud side. If you want to send the HAR file here, I can also help you analyze it.

Espero ter ajudado!

Please give it a like, mark it as Helpful or Solution if that was the case.

Obrigado,

Hi, Hugo

I'm pretty sure the network is not the issue, as I've been experiencing the same problem in different locations, whether using a wired connection or Wi-Fi (e.g., at home, work, etc.).

I will definitely look into the "HAR" file and get it over to you. The next few days are going to be really busy, so I'll likely only be able to do that by the end of next week.

Thanks for the support!!

Pedro,

I will be at Qlik Connect and availability will be limited. But I'm more than happy to help a fellow Qlikker.
Also, if this is a general issue with many of the users, it might be wise start considering migrating your tenant to a Brazilian region.

There's one in São Paulo: https://www.qlik.com/us/regions
