@Sally_Jacobs I like that you brought up the idea of trying new things.  You will never know where to go unless you also save space to fail.

One of the provoking questions: What skill made the biggest difference in helping you move up in your career? 

So my answer, I actually started as a medical secretary at a governmental organization. I discovered that I was tech savy. And that led me towards functional design, maintenance and I grow to IT Projectmanager and I did do a lot of IT Projects. 2007 was the momentum that everything fell into place, learned a lot about Business Intelligence at the Uni and a whole new world opened and from there I specialized, became a lecturer at the uni and found my love for Data & AI Literacy. That was truly life changing and made a big difference.

Mentorship throughout your career is so powerful.  My first mentor was a Climate change scientist who opened my eyes to what you can learn from data and sparked my love for data,  being part of this group is really playing it forward to all of you.  We are here to help anyhow who needs. I believe that people show up in your life when you need them so its not always I need to find a mentor its sometimes the person shows up in your life and you recognize them.

I didn’t start out in tech, and neither did most women I know in the field. A growing love of data is what pulled me onto this path.

@LondaL love this insight.  I agree with you.  That's why it is so important to stay open to change and life long learning.  You never know where it may take you.
