What is a project or initiative you've worked on using Qlik that you're particularly proud of?
One of the projects I’m most proud of was leading an international team of freelance Qlikkies who built a publicly available Qlik app with daily COVID data, country comparisons, and interactive analytics. I’m proud not only of what we built - as far as I know, the only publicly available truly interactive COVID analytics at the time - but also of how people from different countries came together voluntarily to help fight fear and anxiety with data.
What's one Qlik tip, trick, or best practice you think every user should know?
A few years ago, I’d have said Ctrl+00 for dummy data. But AI has that covered now. So my tip is don’t wait for users to tell you exactly what they need. They’ll often ask for a faster horse. Show them the car. Show them what’s possible with Qlik Answers, automations, writeback, data pipelines, and more.
What's one of your favorite memories from Qlik Connect?
Only one? That's really tough. Nine years ago, at the end of my first Qonnections (Qlik Connect) (at the same place as this year) I said I'd come back as a speaker one day. This year, it finally happened, with two sessions! Standing on stage with Alex Walker and Nick Seagrave and hearing them speak so highly about our collaboration and the value Inphinity brought was something special.
And yet, what really keeps bringing me back is the community - great people, friendly conversations with some of the best experts in the world, experienced people supporting the younger generation, and bright new minds eager to learn, contribute, and be part of it.
What are you currently learning or exploring outside of work?
I’m writing my first fiction novel - about a young woman who uses AI to write a book. So, I’m learning how to describe everything from a piece of dust floating in the air to complex emotions like anxiety and depression.
Is there anything else you'd like to share? (Favorite books, TV series, hobbies, fun facts, or anything else you'd like the community to know!)
I love puzzles with thousands of pieces, read fiction, recently started a local book club, and I’m still waiting for my letter from Hogwarts! And don't hesitate to reach out to me if you'd like to chat.
