Need Information about Qlikview Licenses..!!

Hi,

I have one qlikview application which I am developing and there are 10 business users who are using this application through access point.

So how many developer licenses I need? Every business user should have license?

Thanks in advance..!!

You don't need more than one developer license.

You can install QlikView Desktop to connect to the QlikView Server or you can use the browser.

For each user that connects to the QlikView Server (browser or QV Desktop) you need a user licence.

There are several user licence types: named, document, session, usage. The most common is the named user licence. The licences are managed in QlikView Server.

To develop QlikView applications, you need to use the QlikView Desktop.

A Named USER CAL (Client Access License) gives permission to the user to access n number of qvws.

A Document CAL gives permission to the user to open only that particular qvw. He cannot access any other document with that Document CAL.

A Session CAL gives the permission to the user to open only that particular qvw for certain period of time. He cannot access other documents with that session CAL and after the session time our he cannot access any qvw.

Usually some people consider 3 Document CALs have same worth as that of 1 NAMED USER CAL. so if the user need access to more than 3 qvws, it is better to user 1 NAMED USER CAL than  assigning 3 Document CALS for him.

Vamshi: Session CAL means any user, any doc. Usage CAL is the one limited to 1 hour at each 28 days.

When a user accesses a QlikView Server, the user will be evaluated in this order:
1. If already a Named user, use this license
2. If already a Document CAL user, use this license, if not
3. Are there any Named User CAL’s available, allocate a license, if not
4. Are there any Document CAL’s available, allocate a license, if not
5. Are there any Session CAL’s available, allow the user to use a session, if not
6. Are there any Usage CAL’s available, allocate a Usage CAL, if not
If there are no CALs available, the user will be prompted to contact the system manager to request a license.
