Support Bulletin:  QVD Issues in QlikView Expressor 3.11.1

      Support Bulletin:
      QlikView Expressor v3.11.1 (r26528)

Qlik is aware of issues related to the QVD feature that was added to the Read and Write QlikView operators in v3.11.1 (refer to the list below for details on each issue).  Qlik R&D has identified the root causes of each of these issues and is in the process of verifying their respective fixes for the upcoming v3.12 release of QlikView Expressor.

Due to the variability of their occurrence and lack of available workarounds,  Qlik Product Management advises users of QlikView Expressor v3.11.1 to avoid using the QVD mode of the Read and Write QlikView operators in any dataflows used in a production environment.  Note that this advice does not apply to the use of the QVX mode to read and write .QVX files using the Read and Write QlikView operators which remains stable in v3.11.1.

      • Sporadic Failures of Expressor etask when executed From QlikView Publisher external tasks (PRO-2930): An interaction issue has been identified between QlikView Publisher and QlikView Expressor dataflows running Read or Write QlikView operators on QVD files.  The issue can result in failures of either a normal QlikView Publisher’s QVW reload task to run or a failure of the Expressor dataflow to complete.  It is believed that this occurs only when both QlikView Publisher and QlikView Expressor are installed on the same machine and a QlikView Expressor dataflow with at least one Read QlikView or Write QlikView on a QVD file is executed.
      • Background QVB.EXE processes not terminating (PRO-2931): When running Expressor v3.11.1 dataflows with at least one Read QlikView or Write QlikView on a QVD file is executed, there are conditions under which background QVB.EXE processes may remain running when they should be terminated.
      • Read QlikView operator fails to read QVD files of certain sizes (PRO-2933):  The QlikView Expressor Read QlikView operator can fail on reading QVD files of substantial sizes.  The QVD size limit varies depending on the machine and the current runtime environment.
