Best Practice on Contents Transport

Hi All,  I would like to know what best practice is out there to trasnport contents. We also have qliksupport group in production which have the ability to move contents as we have to publish excel files as data source for few qvw.

I would like to know what other best practices are out there as with this it is still dangerous to give them write option to all types on windows environement. We are on 11.0.

Hi Faisal, the Deployment Guide goes into the deploy process.

QlikView Deployment Framework Deployment Guide

The Deployment Framework is perfect to implement if you want a controlled deployment process.

You still need to create the script (if you don't do this manually) that will move the xls from dev/test to prod,

but this is a piece of cake when you use the framework and have setup a good container architecture.

A promotion qvw file "script"  (placed in production and uses execute statement) could copy from the dev/test to the production after validation. You can actuary in production Variable Editor point to one or more dev/test environment containers using the Alt Root Path box, this will give access to test/dev from prod (gives Global Variables to test/dev usable by QlikView applications).

Hope this helps, if it's unclear first check out the 1-8 getting started videos:

Best Regards
